A Guide to Maintaining Safe Social and Physical Distancing

With the Easter long weekend quickly approaching, many residents are returning from winter holidays ready to enjoy the beauty of our community with family and friends. As people return and the population of the community increases, it's always exciting to greet our fellow neighbours after months of
not seeing each other!

In an effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, below are some guidelines that Council has constructed in order to comply with the current regulations:

1. As advised in the March newsletter, the annual Easter Egg Hunt has been CANCELLED for this year.
2. The WRB Playground has been taped off and is not available for use until further notice.
3. Use of the dock / gangway: at ALL TIMES, please be mindful of the distancing requirements of 2m / 6 ft with others outside of your household.
4. When using the gangway, refrain from touching the handrail.
5. Yield to each other on the gangway.  We should not be passing each other. If following others to the dock, follow 6 ft behind and take turns yielding to each other if going in opposite directions.
5. Be kind and patient with each other. These are highly stressful times for everyone.

We have a large percentage of residents within our community that are in the 'high risk' classification for this virus.  It is our personal responsibility, to ourselves and our family, friends and neighbours, to keep everyone safe.

Travel to Seasonal Homes request by Dr. Bonnie Henry

The Provincial Health Officer has requested that, at this time, people should avoid non-essential travel to smaller communities within the province, due to their inability / struggle to have the resources available in the event of an outbreak (ex. seasonal homes).

Helping Others Who Have to Self-Isolate

Many of our returning neighbours are having to self-isolate for 14 days after returning.  They are not to go out to get groceries, medications, etc.  Kathleen Wills is spearheading the Cedar Heights response to this need.  If you can help for shopping for those under quarantine, please call or email her. Phone: 250.675.5452. Email: kmwills@telus.net

Open Fire Ban

On March 26, 2020, the ministry of environment introduced an Open Fire Ban across BC that affects the entire Eagle Bay Area. In an effort to try to reduce smoke in the air that may adversely affect COVID-19 patients, no fires larger than 0.5m x 0.5m are permitted at this time.

PQ Website contains important COVID-19 Information

Pacific Quorum has created a COVID tab on the PQ Online page which contains all new notices and information they receive.

Clarification: First Responders

Our March Newsletter's article about first responders not responding to medical calls didn't clarify well that it didn't include non-volunteers or those that respond to vehicle calls. It was clarified afterwards here:

News on the street

ANNUAL REMINDER: Yard Maintenance

With Spring upon us, the time has come to start annual spring clean up in yards / gardens and arranging for yard maintenance for those unable to do so for themselves.

We had an exceptional amount of snowfall this last winter, with a lot of damage to trees and bushes.

Solutions for those who live away and may be challenged to find someone to maintain their property:

1. Shuswap Property Maintenance.
2. Residents Owners. Any one interested in performing these services can post their contact information on the community billboard, located near the entrance to the boat launch, as options for those who require maintenance services for the 2020 season.
